Our Story

As most Louisville stories do, it all started with the Derby. In this case, the Derby that wasn’t.

In March of 2020, Bill Shory and Tara Goode happened to be chatting when news broke that the Kentucky Derby would be postponed indefinitely due to the developing Covid-19 outbreak. Through his perspective as a journalist and hers as a corporate communicator, they both saw the challenges of communicating something that would change daily life for an entire city. They also realized that many people and companies would be facing similar conversations in the coming months, and that their complementary backgrounds put them in a unique position to help.

Bill and Tara launched Fleur de Lis Communications at a moment when authentic communication had never mattered more, with an idea from a simpler time: to bring back real conversation, centered around people instead of automation. We’ve grown our team with more people who share that passion and the experience to make it happen
