RMHCK Clears Snowy Sidewalks In Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the midst of winter weather, one local organization is taking the initiative to ensure people without cars can walk safely through the snow.

More than 10 inches of snow has been blanketing Louisville since Sunday. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana has been clearing sidewalks, connecting its location on South First Street to downtown hospitals.

It’s been particularly helpful for families like Katrina and her 8-year-old daughter, Scarlett.

The two checked in for medical help back in November, after a car accident paralyzed Scarlett from the chest down.

Katrina said the charity has been helpful in looking after her family, as well as the community.

“There’s two other families here for the same program, same as Scarlett, and we’re all just so grateful this is here. I mean we’re here for three months and that’s a long time and they’re willing to keep us here,” she said. “I also have a house, I have to pay my bills at home. so this, not having to pay for a hotel, it helps a lot.”

Katrina said the nonprofit has also helped her and Scarlett get the help they need free of charge.
